​Jeremiah Publications lovingly remembers Alan Clayton Mullikin, a gifted author, musician, worship leader, devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Alan passed into glory on July 16, 2026, at the age of 75.

 

After a distinguished military career with the United States Army Band, “Pershing’s Own,” Alan retired as a herald trumpeter and trombonist. His music carried him into the presence of presidents, kings and queens, heads of state, and audiences at Olympic opening ceremonies. Yet, to Alan, his greatest privilege was using his gifts in service to the King of Kings.

 

Alan served churches throughout Virginia and Florida as a minister of music and worship leader. Over the course of his life, he composed more than 1,200 worship songs and wrote two full-length musicals that were performed in churches across Florida.

 

His creativity also found expression through the written word. Alan was the author of A Horse Called Chosen, a beautifully illustrated story, as well as numerous inspirational short stories and novels grounded in biblical and historical truth. Through his music and writing, he sought to point others toward what is good, true, and beautiful.

 

Though quiet in nature, Alan possessed a joyful and deeply faithful spirit. He treasured time with his Creator and found inspiration in composing songs of worship. His life reflected the fruit of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

 

Alan was deeply proud of his family and dearly loved his wife, Judy, their sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. Alan and Judy had been together since they were 16 and 17 years old. She remembers him as a wonderful and faithful husband who never spoke an unkind word to her.

 

Alan’s life and work remain a testimony to faith, creativity, service, and enduring love. Jeremiah Publications is honored to preserve and share his literary legacy.
